CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL ELECTIONS DESK — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. In a two-seat sanitary district election, Patrick Shupui Kwok leads with 5,615 candidate votes, Gilbert Wong has 4,723 and Taghi Saadati 3,988, in the November 4 evening report. These numbers are unofficial, not certified election results.

What the election results show

The three reported shares are 39.1%, 32.9% and 27.8% of counted candidate selections. With two seats available, the most consequential cutoff is between second and third: Wong currently has 735 more selections than Saadati. That difference may change as county canvassing continues.

Why this local vote matters

A sanitary district is responsible for wastewater-related public infrastructure and governance, distinct from the Cupertino City Council. Its service boundaries and board elections are not necessarily identical to the city’s municipal limits. Because voters may select more than one candidate, these vote shares are not percentages of unique voters.

How to read the reported count

Election-night returns and post-Election Day updates record only eligible ballots processed by each publication’s reporting cutoff. A countywide ballot backlog does not tell a reader how many votes remain in this specific jurisdiction. Provisional ballots, conditional registrations, valid late-arriving mail ballots, signature checks and auditing may affect the totals. Reporting 100% of polling-place precincts is not the same thing as completing the election canvass.

Related local coverage

California58 has additional reporting on elections in the surrounding area. Those articles cover distinct offices or questions; voters should not combine their numbers or infer that a special district shares a municipal boundary. The dated election results source provides the figures discussed here and should be consulted for subsequent updates.

What happens next?

County election officials continue processing legally eligible votes and reconciling results. Counties are required to finish their official canvass by December 3, 2026, and California’s Secretary of State is scheduled to certify statewide results on December 11. Where an election involves more than one jurisdiction, its final legal result must reflect all participating portions rather than a single city’s figures. This report makes no prediction about remaining ballots.
